The Information Technology Web Development Certification program is taught by Prof. Carl M. Burnett. Prof. Burnett has been teaching for over 40 years in military and academic institutions around the world. He has been a Montgomery College faculty member since 2007. His many years of experience in information technology provides students with a very strong web technology educational and practical experience foundation.

Mr. Burnett's body of work includes inventing and patenting many new information technologies (Geolocation and the GEOCODE data format) that has been adopted by international standard development organizatinons (SDO). His work is consistently cited in industry publications and over 140 patent applications. He is a certified member of several global standardization committees to include:

• International Standards Organization (ISO)
• World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
• Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
• International Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS)
• Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)

These standard development organizations (SDO) adopt information technology for use in industries to ensure information systems are interoperable worldwide.
